Moxibustion

Moxibustion or Moxa is a method of heat therapy where mugwort is used to stimulate directly or indirectly known acupuncture points or areas of cold, pain and discomfort.  Mugwort can reduce inflammation because it burns at a very specific temperature which is known to reduce Substance P. Substance P is the direct neural link generated during an inflammation process.  

Moxa is known very well for its ability to reduce pain, however, it is also used for various TCM diagnoses, differential diagnosis, and pattern identification.  It can be used to bring heat to areas that often find themselves cold (hands and feet, abdomen, core, uterus, etc). It can also be used in conjunction to massage for its
